Victor Iriarte’s work combines cinematic fiction with audiovisual experimentation, innovation in content with formal research. Decir adiós (2007), selected for the Kimuak catalogue, and Wrócic-Volver (2006) are fiction shorts filmed in 35mm. E-j-e-r-c-i-c-i-o-n-ú-m-e-r-o-d-o-s- (2007), Cinco películas breves (2007) and Tentativa (2006) are closer to formal/plastic investigation and spring from his collaboration with the Mai-My contemporary dance collective. Following the same approach he has also collaborated with the musical group Miztura, putting his signature to two pieces of video art for them: El otro lado-Arrazen miztura (2004) and Microscopio (2003).
He holds a Masters in Creation Documentary from the Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona, and obtained his degree in Journalism at the University of Navarre. He currently runs the production company VIO-CAJACONCOSASDENTRO, which specialises in independent cinematographic projects, creative documentary and video art; he is also a Teacher of Cinematographic Language at the University of Montevideo (Uruguay), and works as a journalist as well as collaborating as cinematographic critic for the daily newspaper El País in Uruguay.
