Sevilla, 2003. Santiago Cirugeda (Sevilla, 1971) and his team (Alejandro Bonasso, Harold Guayux, Tania Santos y Luca Stasi) live in Sevilla.
They collaborate with: LANIK.
For ten years now Santiago Cirugeda has been developing projects of subversion in different spheres of urban reality, ranging from systematic occupations of public spaces using containers, to the construction of prostheses on facades, patios, roofs and even on public plots. All this involves negotiation between legality and illegality, as a reminder of the enormous control society is subjected to.
Among the latest projects / situationals / urban prostheses executed since 2005, mention can be made of the following: Stiff Sheets (Camouflaged dwellings), Self-constructed Lecture Room Building Trench (Málaga Fine Arts Faculty), Disassembly and Assembly of Open Classroom (Granada), 35 rented dwellings for young people (Basauri), 5000 m2 development on a surface with no thoroughfare (Mixart-Myrys, Toulouse), Rented studios on the roof of Escuela Arte 4 (Madrid), and Illegal dwellings contracted on communal roofs.
