Daniela Bershan works at the cut surface of art and science. With a BA background in Multimedia Design (2002) she recently graduated from the Fine Arts Department of the Gerrit Rietveld Academy (2007). In connexion with interdisciplinary research projects she makes complex installations and sculptures that reflect and use art as a real thing in a real world: as an instrument of scientific research or an evolutionary program. Consequently she rejects a metaphorical reading of her work.

Since 2005 she experiments about minimachines, autoforms, spherules - indications of understanding life as mutations of cells or bacterial networks - with the attempt and drive to recognize programs in physical reality. Together with the DJ and artist Eugen Georg, she is writing on Minimachines. Methodical Approximation. Art Fiction. With “PLASMODIA”, “UV TABLE” ans “TERRARIA” (all 2007) she created a body of work where the living artwork constantly re-constitutes itself in self-sufficient environments. "MOLEKÜLO" her proposal for Sarkis Lagunketa is located along that line.

Next to her research and practice Daniela Bershan works as a DJ.
