Guillermo Trujillano (Bilbao, 1975) studied stone carving at Deba’s Escuela de Artes y Oficios and has a Degree in Fine Arts from the University of Barcelona. He founded and collaborates with Coloco, a collective whose work ranges from interior design to artistic installations. Interested in creative processes, he proposes moments of thought infiltrating his proposals within the routine of the everyday. His work often adopts camouflage strategies (a telephone cabin, SMS messages, “Operación Triunfo” video clip) in the aim of capturing attention to launch “a necessary message” based on surprise.
He joined the first superdogma manifesto with his work Kasta, a 33-minute documentary without any cuts. For the exhibition Indivisuals in the Fundació Tàpies, he created a telephone cabin that offered free calls in exchange for them being amplified by loudspeakers in a shopping centre. For Hem Pres la Ràdio (Centro de Arte Santa Mónica), he created two works: a satirical radio novella about the art scene in Barcelona, broadcast on radio4’s “nautilus” programme, which covers cultural current affairs, and a video clip with the aesthetic of Spain’s “Fame Academy” reality show, entitled “Operación Triunfo”, which attempted to highlight the fact that nobody goes to museums. His multidisciplinary work has meant that he is currently interested in videographical documentaries.
Cartografía Bipolar de Cantautores de la Habana is his latest work.
