DISONANCIAS Euskadi 2008/09 gathers together eight research projects to be developed between October 2008 and July 2009. A total of nine months of collaboration to develop a prototype, procedure or idea based on a concept defined by the participating organisations and the preliminary projects presented by the artists.
The fourth edition of the programme in Euskadi has the support of the Basque Government and the Basque Government’s Association for the Promotion of Industry (SPRI).
Results of the developed projects.
Participants in the fourth edition of DISONANCIAS Euskadi:
Four companies: a service company, Seguros Lagun Aro; three design/production companies, Bultzaki (wire moulding), Ezarri (glass mosaics) and Proiek (urban furniture and architecture).
A government body: Vitoria-Gasteiz City Council, through its Departments of Economic Promotion/Strategic Planning and Urban Planning.
Two universities: Mondragón Escuela Politécnica Superior, through its department of innovation and enterprise; and Tecnológico Fundación Deusto (S3Lab Laboratory for Smartness, Semantics and Security).
A public media group (Eitb).
Research relating to urban dynamics:
Research relating to the development of creative environments:
Research relating to technological or material applications/developments:
In the special case of EiTB (Basque public radio and television), the research requested is multimedia promotion (TV, radio, Internet), applying the research to disseminate the DISONANCIAS programme.
Each participating company and organisation chooses a legal option to exploit their results. There are three options available for exploiting these results:
To develop a visualisation tool for an artificial reasoning engine that is being built in S3Lab, using mathematical techniques of artificial intelligence.
To investigate new business and business models for the commercial distribution network of Seguros Lagun Aro.
Democratization of design: launching a new family of outdoor public furniture of high quality and low cost access to different budgets, looking for simplicity and feasibility are the main requirements. The starting point will be a specification developed by Proiek: to establish goals for quality and cost in addition to the definition of material and technology.
To design an “environment” where activities aimed at the development of creative, innovative and entrepreneurial abilities are encouraged in the short to medium term for engineering students, professors and company professionals.
To investigate new uses or new applications for glass mosaics and/or recycled glass, preferably but not exclusively basing the research on technologies used by EZARRI. Solutions for industrial applications as well as made-to-measure uses may be developed.
To investigate the concept of multi-support promotion for EiTB based on the integration of the EiTB Group’s different media (TV, radio, Internet, street actions) from a creative and innovative viewpoint.
To investigate new uses of wire moulding and piping, prioritising interactive applications with people and surroundings. The use of the material rather than the material itself is the aim of the research.
To investigate new modes of social and commercial dynamics in the city centre of Vitoria-Gasteiz with the participation of the agents involved. To deal with the massive use of the shopping centres in the outskirts of the city. In order to do this, the researchers will have the results of studies on uses and behaviour that have already been carried out.
